Scottish Rugby squad trained for Rugby World Cup at Browns

Scotland’s 44-man Rugby World Cup training squad was at Browns Sports Resort in Vilamoura last week for a warm-weather training camp. The squad’s training was intensive with a mix of strength work, high-intensity contact conditioning and games.

“It’s been an excellent week in the heat, with the players challenged in the gym and on the pitch. They’ve coped tremendously well, pushing their personal boundaries #AsOne ☀️” twitter.com/Scotlandteam

Around one third of the training squad will not be on the plane to Japan for this year’s Rugby World Cup. All the players on camp at Browns were working hard to demonstrate that their names should be on Gregor Townsend's final 31-man list.

With more than a full-squad out in Portugal, it allowed them to be divided into their teams for specific conditioning games, designed to put them under pressure both physically and mentally.

Coming up for Scotland’s national team is the summer test matches against France and Georgia before heading over to Japan for their first game against Ireland on the 22nd September.

Currently ranked 7th in the World, will they reach the semi-final as they did in 1991?
